Information, Political, Digital and Ethical Literacy in Education

CILIPS and other partners have been reaching out to engage with other work that could be linked to media and information literacy. Recently a very popular webinar was held with Dr Huw Davies, who is currently undertaking a project alongside Education Scotland aimed at equipping teachers and young learners across Scotland with the capacity to identify and critically evaluate the ideologies and manipulation techniques that these influencers and campaigns use as well as the digital platforms that enable them.

CILIPS have also been in touch with the Royal Society of Edinburgh who recently released a report called Moral support – using the curriculum to foster ethical literacy in Scottish learners. The report raises questions about how the school curriculum might be updated to better equip young people with the intellectual toolkit they need to navigate an increasingly complicated modern world.

CILIPS are also attending ongoing workshops connected to curriculum review on digital literacy and links to media and information literacy within that.
