Ofcom Media Literacy Strategy

Ofcom has released its three-year media literacy strategy, outlining its focus under the Online Safety Act 2023. The strategy aims to increase public understanding of online safety and protection. The strategy emphasises that media literacy is a shared responsibility and it calls for collaboration among online platforms, parents, educators, third-sector organisations, healthcare providers, child professionals, broadcasters, and others.

A key goal is to integrate media literacy education into the school curriculum. Ofcom plans to work with the Department for Education and relevant authorities in devolved nations to support this initiative, aligning with ongoing curriculum reviews.
